<p>Seconde partie du Pays Basque jusqu’au Béarn, les étapes 4 à 8 prennent progressivement un profil plus montagneux. On aperçoit assez vite le Pic d’Orhy qui est le premier vrai sommet qui se présente en venant de l’ouest. L’option est prise ici de ne pas monter aux Chalets d’Iraty pour couper sous le Pic d’Orhy jusqu’au Port de Larrau. L’étape 8 est très belle, tout en crête, avant de redescendre vers le refuge de Belagua que l’on peut dépasser un peu pour gagner sur la longue étape 9 vers la Table des Trois Rois et les Aiguilles d’Ansabères.</p>

<p><span class="partie-itineraire">Étape 5 : Les Aldudes > Col d’Ibañeta (16km, 975m D+, 295m d-)</span><br />
Une étape roulante avec une alternance de sentiers et de pistes mais aussi de la route. Monter au col de Lepeder puis suivre en traversée, passer plusieurs petits cols, dont le col d’Hauzay et remonter ensuite au col de Lindus où on rejoint le GR12. Descendre ensuite tranquillement jusqu’au col d’Ibañeta où on croise la voie du Puy du Chemin de Compostelle. Possibilité de descendre à l’auberge des pèlerins où on trouve de l’eau, bars et WC. Bivouac possible en contre-bas du col dans la forêt près du sentier qui descend vers Roncevaux. Torrent à proximité.</p>
<p><span class="partie-itineraire">Étape 6 : Col d’Ibañeta > Nekez Egina (20,5km, 800m D+, 990m d-)</span><br />
Pistes et sentiers sur le GR12 au départ monter au col de Lepeoder (1h), passer le col d’Arnostéguy puis après une bonne portion de route jusqu’au col d’Organbidé (3h15, Cromlech d’Irupile). Prendre à droite et continuer sur la route pour finalement la quitter et descendre pour croiser la Nive sur le pont de Chibugna (4h). Remonter sur une pente bien raide et herbeuse jusqu’au col d’Errozate (5h). Descendre le vallon le long de la route jusqu’en bas (6h). Bivouac près la route et du torrent devant la montée vers Urkuluko. Peu d’eau en chemin, une source après col d’Errozate. Bivouac à Nekez Egina, près du torrent.</p>
<p><span class="partie-itineraire">Étape 7 : Nekez Egina > Port de Larrau (20km, 1410m D+, 720m d-)</span><br />
Montée raide sur sentier peu visible pour rejoindre plus haut le GR12 sur les crête d’Urkulu (1h). Poursuivre en traversée jusqu’au col d’Oraaté. Descendre ensuite en suivant le GR12 jusqu’à croiser tout en bas le rio Urbeltza (2h45, final sur mini sentier raide dans les fougères). Remonter bien raide sur le versant opposé jusqu’au col de Murkhuillako (4h30) avant de redescendre toujours sur le GR12 dans un vallon avec une source et un torrent. Couper sous le Pic d’Orhy pour une longue traversée qui rejoindra tout au bout le col de Murle puis le Port de Larrau (6h15, pas d’eau). Très peu d’eau en chemin. Bivouac au Port de Larrau, sur les crêtes, à l’abri d’une cabanette de tir.</p>
<p><span class="partie-itineraire">Étape 8 : Port de Larrau > Refuge de Belagua (20,5km, 720m D+, 695m d-)</span><br />
Étape bien roulante en crête. Du Port de Larrau suivre en gros le sentier qui va faire toutes les crêtes plein est en contournant les sommets par des cols ou des épaules. La montée au dernier col de Bambiletea (2h50) est la plus raide avant de basculer vers Belagua (4h pour le refuge). Le refuge offre aussi bar et petit ravito. Pas d’eau en chemin jusqu’au refuge de Belagua. On peut continuer un peu plus d’1h pour s’avancer sur GR12 pour trouver des cuvettes où bivouaquer. Histoire de gagner sur l’étape 9 plus solide.</p>

Seconde partie du Pays Basque jusqu’au Béarn, les étapes 4 à 8 prennent progressivement un profil plus montagneux. On aperçoit assez vite le Pic d’Orhy qui est le premier vrai sommet qui se présente en venant de l’ouest. L’option est prise ici de ne pas monter aux Chalets d’Iraty pour couper sous le Pic d’Orhy jusqu’au Port de Larrau. L’étape 8 est très belle, tout en crête, avant de redescendre vers le refuge de Belagua que l’on peut dépasser un peu pour gagner sur la longue étape 9 vers la Table des Trois Rois et les Aiguilles d’Ansabères.

<p><span class="partie-itineraire">Étape 5 : Les Aldudes > Col d’Ibañeta (16km, 975m D+, 295m d-)</span><br/>
Une étape roulante avec une alternance de sentiers et de pistes mais aussi de la route. Monter au col de Lepeder puis suivre en traversée, passer plusieurs petits cols, dont le col d’Hauzay et remonter ensuite au col de Lindus où on rejoint le GR12. Descendre ensuite tranquillement jusqu’au col d’Ibañeta où on croise la voie du Puy du Chemin de Compostelle. Possibilité de descendre à l’auberge des pèlerins où on trouve de l’eau, bars et WC. Bivouac possible en contre-bas du col dans la forêt près du sentier qui descend vers Roncevaux. Torrent à proximité.</p>
<p><span class="partie-itineraire">Étape 6 : Col d’Ibañeta > Nekez Egina (20,5km, 800m D+, 990m d-)</span><br/>
Pistes et sentiers sur le GR12 au départ monter au col de Lepeoder (1h), passer le col d’Arnostéguy puis après une bonne portion de route jusqu’au col d’Organbidé (3h15, Cromlech d’Irupile). Prendre à droite et continuer sur la route pour finalement la quitter et descendre pour croiser la Nive sur le pont de Chibugna (4h). Remonter sur une pente bien raide et herbeuse jusqu’au col d’Errozate (5h). Descendre le vallon le long de la route jusqu’en bas (6h). Bivouac près la route et du torrent devant la montée vers Urkuluko. Peu d’eau en chemin, une source après col d’Errozate. Bivouac à Nekez Egina, près du torrent.</p>
<p><span class="partie-itineraire">Étape 7 : Nekez Egina > Port de Larrau (20km, 1410m D+, 720m d-)</span><br/>
Montée raide sur sentier peu visible pour rejoindre plus haut le GR12 sur les crête d’Urkulu (1h). Poursuivre en traversée jusqu’au col d’Oraaté. Descendre ensuite en suivant le GR12 jusqu’à croiser tout en bas le rio Urbeltza (2h45, final sur mini sentier raide dans les fougères). Remonter bien raide sur le versant opposé jusqu’au col de Murkhuillako (4h30) avant de redescendre toujours sur le GR12 dans un vallon avec une source et un torrent. Couper sous le Pic d’Orhy pour une longue traversée qui rejoindra tout au bout le col de Murle puis le Port de Larrau (6h15, pas d’eau). Très peu d’eau en chemin. Bivouac au Port de Larrau, sur les crêtes, à l’abri d’une cabanette de tir.</p>
<p><span class="partie-itineraire">Étape 8 : Port de Larrau > Refuge de Belagua (20,5km, 720m D+, 695m d-)</span><br/>
Étape bien roulante en crête. Du Port de Larrau suivre en gros le sentier qui va faire toutes les crêtes plein est en contournant les sommets par des cols ou des épaules. La montée au dernier col de Bambiletea (2h50) est la plus raide avant de basculer vers Belagua (4h pour le refuge). Le refuge offre aussi bar et petit ravito. Pas d’eau en chemin jusqu’au refuge de Belagua. On peut continuer un peu plus d’1h pour s’avancer sur GR12 pour trouver des cuvettes où bivouaquer. Histoire de gagner sur l’étape 9 plus solide.</p>
