Miniere Nel Blu is the local hike, a mini Salvagio Blu on Sardinia's west coast. The historic trail leads from Nebida up to Buggeru via the Masua. A wild trail with an almost permanent view of the deep blue sea and the orange cliffs above. It's also an opportunity to discover the Pan di Zucchero, a rocky outcrop set high above the waves. The itinerary is fairly straightforward, more or less marked in red and white but sometimes faded, and the time indications are pretty far-fetched. Fortunately, there's a detailed map of the hike, and in the end you'll find your way without a problem. All that's left is to anticipate the logistics of getting back with or without a car. A beautiful walk, one of the best in Sardinia without a doubt.

Not easy unless you have 2 cars. After unsuccessfully hitchhiking, we left our car in the center of Buggeru and took an ARST bus down the village in front of the Orru bar to Iglesias (8am, 3 euros, 1h15 journey). In Iglesias, a charming town well worth a visit, take another bus (10:54 for us) to Nebida, direction Masua (2 euros, ticket at the bar behind the covered market). Stop in Nebida.
Miniere Nel Blu indicative route
In the village of Nebida, the "sentiero" is signposted. Go down the street and follow the path along Porto Banda. At the bottom of the road, turn left downhill to reach the start on the right before the sea.
No difficulty other than the length of the hike and the occasional hesitation in the itinerary. It's best to get the detailed map from Nebida.
It takes around 45′ to reach the port of Masua along a wild coastline with red rock contrasting with the blue of the sea. First pass Porto Ferro on a minimal path, then Porto Masua, which you have to cross to find the path that climbs steeply up the large wall between the cliffs. At the top, after 1h45, you can admire the Pan Di Zucchero, above Porto Flavia. The path then descends close to the cliffs, in a wilderness setting.
You then reach Cala Grande. Continue on to Cala Domestica, about 4 hours after the start. Bypass it via a mini-tunnel, and as you leave, take the path that climbs to the left for a final stretch on the edge of impressive cliffs with splendid sea views. The end of the route is rather confusing, and you get lost in the signs, but you can easily reach Buggeru within sight, after about 6 hours' walking.
Go down into the village to find the car we left in the morning.
