Collbato, south face of Montserrat, a bit of sport climbing. Discover the Poma sector to warm up and test the 3 routes before climbing a little higher up on the harder El Beat sector. 35m routes in an imposing totem-shaped needle. Well equipped, no scares, but a little time to get used to the rock again. Poudingue means it's all in the feet!

Technical summary

Itinerary description

Hiking to the start

From the top of Collbato village, climb along the Sioux sector in the small canal, leaving the Totxo Cinquentenary to the right. First you come to Poma, then Poma superior above. For El Beat, climb back down along the Totxo Cinquentenary to reach El Beat above (easy to recognize with a large dihedral at the top). Refer to the topo guide "Montserrat cara sur vol 1 Vías Cortas" recently published by Luis Alfonso, go to capitulo 13, sector Els Graus.

Course

PLACA DE LA POMA

Pinchos no morunos (n°9, V+)

Central track. Fine, 1st nail high, a small final overhang.

Gamarús alegre (n°8, 6a)

Leftmost route. The most beautiful in the sector. Fine and continuous, with a small overhang at the end. Nothing very hard.

Atxís,Txús (n°10, 6a+)

The right-hand route. 1 step more athletic at the start, but then it's more V/V+. Not well equipped after the 2nd nail.

EL BEAT

Left-hand route (n°25, 6b)

Magnificent, aerial and committed. Nothing too difficult until the final dihedral, which is delicate, a little exposed and technical. A 3-star route!

Right-hand route (n°17, 6c+)

Fine 1st section with 2 big slab steps, then the final, invigorating, continuous overhang. In short, an accessible 7a route. Attempt on 26 in 7b/7c. Accessible right up to the final slope. An accessible 1st step, a very difficult second... too difficult ;-D!
