<p>Grand classique parmi les classiques, le GR20 propose un itinéraire exceptionnel pour traverser la Corse du Nord au Sud ou l’inverse entre mer et haute montagne. Plus de 160 kilomètres de sentier, plus de 12 000 mètres de dénivelé souvent entre 1500 et 2500 mètres d’altitude, le parcours est engagé et s’adresse aux randonneurs expérimentés. Très fréquenté, le GR20 paye la rançon de son succès et pour s’échapper un peu, nous proposons ici un itinéraire alternatif avec de nombreuses variantes officielles ou non et l’ascension de sommets intéressants: Cirque de la Solitude, la Paglia Orba et le Capo Tafunatu, le Monte d’Oro, le Monte Renoso, le Monte Incudine. Ce topo présente le GR20 tel que nous l’avons réalisé de manière générale, toutes les étapes étant décrites plus en détails dans les posts qui vont suivre.</p>

<p>Si on décide de faire le GR20 dans le sens Nord-Sud, il s’agit de se rendre à Calenzana, à 14 kms au Sud de Calvi. Arrivés en ferry à l’Île Rousse, nous avons pu prendre un petit train pour Calvi et de là un taxi qui nous a déposé à Calenzana (40€ en 2021). Par le Sud, le village de départ est Conca, à quelques 30 kms au Nord de Porto-Vecchio. Des navettes font le trajet tous les jours pour se rendre au départ du GR20 depuis Porto-Vecchio.</p>

<p><strong>Lieu de départ</strong> : Calenzana, se rendre dans le centre du village où l’on trouve rapidement des panneaux qui indique le départ du GR20. On le traverse pour sortir finalement par le Sud sur le sentier marqué de rouge et de blanc, début des 160 kilomètres !</p>
<p><strong>Lieu d’arrivée</strong> : Conca, se rendre au bar du GR20 d’où partent les navettes vers Port-Vecchio (6,50€ en 2021). En juin, les navettes viennent sur demande, en juillet et août elles tournent à horaire régulier. Se renseigner au bar du GR20 de Conca.</p>
<p><strong>Le GR20 comprend 2 partie</strong>s : la partie Nord de Calenzana jusqu’à Vizzavona plus abrupte, plus alpine et la partie Sud plus douce et ouverte de Vizzavona à Conca. Voici le choix des itinéraires et des étapes que nous avons réalisés.</p>

<p>Ces données sont indicatives et on peut trouver des variations légères en raison de certaines sections hors sentier ou non balisées sur les fonds de carte.</p>
<p>Notre objectif n’était pas de faire le GR20 en en certain nombre d’étapes mais de choisir les itinéraires qui semblaient les plus beaux ou intéressants à parcourir d’où le choix de variantes alpines, de crêtes ou de sommets. Certains de ces choix nous ont amené à « doubler » des étapes officielles souvent parce que l’itinéraire choisi était plus direct, donc avec moins de distance mais parfois avec plus de dénivelé. Nous avons également évité de finir nos journées épuisés par trop de temps de marche afin de profiter chaque jour du spectacle, de prendre le temps de se baigner et d’admirer le paysage.</p>

<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>ÉQUIPEMENT ET MATÉRIEL</strong></span></p>
<p>Sur le GR20, le balisage rouge et blanc est permanent et globalement excellent. Il est difficile de s’égarer même si il y a des sections où il faut être attentif, notamment si la visibilité n’est pas bonne. On trouve aussi sur les étapes officielles quelques passages équipés de barreaux ou de chaînes pour progresser mais très peu.</p>
<p><em>Question matériel technique</em> à prévoir, une paire de crampons légers est indispensable à cette période au moins et éventuellement une petite corde de sécurité de 20m pour réchapper si besoin. Le piolet en revanche ne nous semble pas indispensable mais peut éventuellement rassurer.</p>
<p><em>Question sac et poids du sac</em>, cela dépend bien sûr du choix que l’on a fait de dormir en dortoir, en tente du PNRC ou avec sa propre tente, du choix de se ravitailler et de manger au refuge ou de gérer en partie u totalement les repas en autonomie. Partis avec notre tente (pour 2), un petit réchaud et du lyophilisé pour le midi, en comptant l’eau de la journée, nous étions entre 16 et 18 kg. En prenant d’autres options, on peut raisonnablement ramener son sac à 13 ou 14 kg.</p>
<p>Penser en tout cas qu’il s’agit de haute montagne et qu’il est impératif d’avoir des vêtements chauds, contre la pluie ainsi que les cartes nécessaires pour savoir où l’on se trouve et le chemin qu’il reste à parcourir. À ce niveau l’idéal est probablement d’avoir chargé sur son mobile la trace GPS du parcours complet afn de pouvoir se situer à tout moment en cas de besoin (ficher KLM sur MapsMe par exemple ou ficher GPX sur Iphygénie). C’est particulièrement utile sur les variantes non officielles et les passages hors sentiers.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>LA DIFFICULTÉ</strong></span></p>
<p><em>Le GR20 s’adresse à des randonneurs expérimentés et entraînés</em> notamment le Nord qui comporte de longs passages exposés, très accidentés où il faut poser ou s’aider des mains pour progresser (pas de II ou III). En tenant compte en plus du poids du sac et de la fatigue qui va s’accumuler, une expérience de montagne semble indispensable pour prendre du plaisir tout du long et ne pas se mettre en danger.</p>
<p>En juin, il y a des étapes avec quelques passages sur névé qui nécessitent une paire de crampons pour éviter de se faire peur, même si souvent les traces sont faites et la progression est facilitée.</p>
<p>Pour parcourir les variantes et les sommets que nous proposons ici, la difficulté croit avec par moment l’absence de balisage voir des sections hors-sentier nécessitant de savoir bien s’orienter et d’être à l’aise dans la recherche d’itinéraire alpin. Ces options comportent aussi des passages plus délicats à négocier, à escalader ou désescalader, et de longues portions exposées où il est interdit de tomber. Elles s’adressent donc à des personnes habituées à ce type de progression en autonomie et en altitude.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>LES REFUGES</strong></span></p>
<p>Il est interdit de bivouaquer dans le Parc Régional Naturel de Corse (PNRC) sauf urgence. Les nuits se font donc en refuge, soit en dortoir, soit en tente que ce soit celle du refuge ou la nôtre, option que nous avons prises pour plus d’autonomie. Le tarif en juin 2021 était de 7€ par personne pour bivouaquer avec sa propre tente au refuge (prix avec réservation sur le site de parc, 12€ si pas de réservation).</p>
<p>Les refuges du PNRC où nous nous sommes arrêtés sont très inégaux dans leurs prestations et ce à tous les niveaux : accueil, propreté, repas, situation, confort, sanitaires, alimentation. Douches froides ou chaudes, wc sommaire au toilettes sèches, repas basique voir minimal aux bons petits plats cuisinés, accueil froid voir paléolithique à chaleureux et avenant, terrain en pente avec des cailloux aux terrasses aménagées, alimentation plus ou moins conséquente pour se ravitailler. Cela semble dépendre des gérants qui ont à cœur ou non de mettre l’accent sur tel ou tel aspect du refuge.</p>
<p>Il existe aussi des Bergeries (non testées) et des refuges privés en chemin où l’on peut également bivouaquer et se restaurer : ainsi le camping du Castellu di Vergio, les refuges de Vizzavona et du Col de Verde, avec des prestations globalement supérieures aux refuges du parc pour quasiment le même prix (en 2021).</p>
<p>Les prix des repas et de l’alimentation de ravitaillement sont plutôt élevés (repas du soir entre 18 et 24€ en 2021) souvent sans la qualité ni la qualité de la prestation mise à part quelques exceptions. Les rechargements de batteries ou de téléphone sont aussi payantes : 1€ ou 2€ selon les refuges à moins de porter avec soi un panneau solaire autonome.</p>

Grand classique parmi les classiques, le GR20 propose un itinéraire exceptionnel pour traverser la Corse du Nord au Sud ou l’inverse entre mer et haute montagne. Plus de 160 kilomètres de sentier, plus de 12 000 mètres de dénivelé souvent entre 1500 et 2500 mètres d’altitude, le parcours est engagé et s’adresse aux randonneurs expérimentés. Très fréquenté, le GR20 paye la rançon de son succès et pour s’échapper un peu, nous proposons ici un itinéraire alternatif avec de nombreuses variantes officielles ou non et l’ascension de sommets intéressants: Cirque de la Solitude, la Paglia Orba et le Capo Tafunatu, le Monte d’Oro, le Monte Renoso, le Monte Incudine. Ce topo présente le GR20 tel que nous l’avons réalisé de manière générale, toutes les étapes étant décrites plus en détails dans les posts qui vont suivre.

Si on décide de faire le GR20 dans le sens Nord-Sud, il s’agit de se rendre à Calenzana, à 14 kms au Sud de Calvi. Arrivés en ferry à l’Île Rousse, nous avons pu prendre un petit train pour Calvi et de là un taxi qui nous a déposé à Calenzana (40€ en 2021). Par le Sud, le village de départ est Conca, à quelques 30 kms au Nord de Porto-Vecchio. Des navettes font le trajet tous les jours pour se rendre au départ du GR20 depuis Porto-Vecchio.

<p><strong>Lieu de départ</strong> : Calenzana, se rendre dans le centre du village où l’on trouve rapidement des panneaux qui indique le départ du GR20. On le traverse pour sortir finalement par le Sud sur le sentier marqué de rouge et de blanc, début des 160 kilomètres !</p>
<p><strong>Lieu d’arrivée</strong> : Conca, se rendre au bar du GR20 d’où partent les navettes vers Port-Vecchio (6,50€ en 2021). En juin, les navettes viennent sur demande, en juillet et août elles tournent à horaire régulier. Se renseigner au bar du GR20 de Conca.</p>
<p><strong>Le GR20 comprend 2 partie</strong>s : la partie Nord de Calenzana jusqu’à Vizzavona plus abrupte, plus alpine et la partie Sud plus douce et ouverte de Vizzavona à Conca. Voici le choix des itinéraires et des étapes que nous avons réalisés.</p>

<p>Ces données sont indicatives et on peut trouver des variations légères en raison de certaines sections hors sentier ou non balisées sur les fonds de carte.</p>
<p>Notre objectif n’était pas de faire le GR20 en en certain nombre d’étapes mais de choisir les itinéraires qui semblaient les plus beaux ou intéressants à parcourir d’où le choix de variantes alpines, de crêtes ou de sommets. Certains de ces choix nous ont amené à « doubler » des étapes officielles souvent parce que l’itinéraire choisi était plus direct, donc avec moins de distance mais parfois avec plus de dénivelé. Nous avons également évité de finir nos journées épuisés par trop de temps de marche afin de profiter chaque jour du spectacle, de prendre le temps de se baigner et d’admirer le paysage.</p>

<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>ÉQUIPEMENT ET MATÉRIEL</strong></span></p>
<p>Sur le GR20, le balisage rouge et blanc est permanent et globalement excellent. Il est difficile de s’égarer même si il y a des sections où il faut être attentif, notamment si la visibilité n’est pas bonne. On trouve aussi sur les étapes officielles quelques passages équipés de barreaux ou de chaînes pour progresser mais très peu.</p>
<p><em>Question matériel technique</em> à prévoir, une paire de crampons légers est indispensable à cette période au moins et éventuellement une petite corde de sécurité de 20m pour réchapper si besoin. Le piolet en revanche ne nous semble pas indispensable mais peut éventuellement rassurer.</p>
<p><em>Question sac et poids du sac</em>, cela dépend bien sûr du choix que l’on a fait de dormir en dortoir, en tente du PNRC ou avec sa propre tente, du choix de se ravitailler et de manger au refuge ou de gérer en partie u totalement les repas en autonomie. Partis avec notre tente (pour 2), un petit réchaud et du lyophilisé pour le midi, en comptant l’eau de la journée, nous étions entre 16 et 18 kg. En prenant d’autres options, on peut raisonnablement ramener son sac à 13 ou 14 kg.</p>
<p>Penser en tout cas qu’il s’agit de haute montagne et qu’il est impératif d’avoir des vêtements chauds, contre la pluie ainsi que les cartes nécessaires pour savoir où l’on se trouve et le chemin qu’il reste à parcourir. À ce niveau l’idéal est probablement d’avoir chargé sur son mobile la trace GPS du parcours complet afn de pouvoir se situer à tout moment en cas de besoin (ficher KLM sur MapsMe par exemple ou ficher GPX sur Iphygénie). C’est particulièrement utile sur les variantes non officielles et les passages hors sentiers.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>LA DIFFICULTÉ</strong></span></p>
<p><em>Le GR20 s’adresse à des randonneurs expérimentés et entraînés</em> notamment le Nord qui comporte de longs passages exposés, très accidentés où il faut poser ou s’aider des mains pour progresser (pas de II ou III). En tenant compte en plus du poids du sac et de la fatigue qui va s’accumuler, une expérience de montagne semble indispensable pour prendre du plaisir tout du long et ne pas se mettre en danger.</p>
<p>En juin, il y a des étapes avec quelques passages sur névé qui nécessitent une paire de crampons pour éviter de se faire peur, même si souvent les traces sont faites et la progression est facilitée.</p>
<p>Pour parcourir les variantes et les sommets que nous proposons ici, la difficulté croit avec par moment l’absence de balisage voir des sections hors-sentier nécessitant de savoir bien s’orienter et d’être à l’aise dans la recherche d’itinéraire alpin. Ces options comportent aussi des passages plus délicats à négocier, à escalader ou désescalader, et de longues portions exposées où il est interdit de tomber. Elles s’adressent donc à des personnes habituées à ce type de progression en autonomie et en altitude.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>LES REFUGES</strong></span></p>
<p>Il est interdit de bivouaquer dans le Parc Régional Naturel de Corse (PNRC) sauf urgence. Les nuits se font donc en refuge, soit en dortoir, soit en tente que ce soit celle du refuge ou la nôtre, option que nous avons prises pour plus d’autonomie. Le tarif en juin 2021 était de 7€ par personne pour bivouaquer avec sa propre tente au refuge (prix avec réservation sur le site de parc, 12€ si pas de réservation).</p>
<p>Les refuges du PNRC où nous nous sommes arrêtés sont très inégaux dans leurs prestations et ce à tous les niveaux : accueil, propreté, repas, situation, confort, sanitaires, alimentation. Douches froides ou chaudes, wc sommaire au toilettes sèches, repas basique voir minimal aux bons petits plats cuisinés, accueil froid voir paléolithique à chaleureux et avenant, terrain en pente avec des cailloux aux terrasses aménagées, alimentation plus ou moins conséquente pour se ravitailler. Cela semble dépendre des gérants qui ont à cœur ou non de mettre l’accent sur tel ou tel aspect du refuge.</p>
<p>Il existe aussi des Bergeries (non testées) et des refuges privés en chemin où l’on peut également bivouaquer et se restaurer : ainsi le camping du Castellu di Vergio, les refuges de Vizzavona et du Col de Verde, avec des prestations globalement supérieures aux refuges du parc pour quasiment le même prix (en 2021).</p>
<p>Les prix des repas et de l’alimentation de ravitaillement sont plutôt élevés (repas du soir entre 18 et 24€ en 2021) souvent sans la qualité ni la qualité de la prestation mise à part quelques exceptions. Les rechargements de batteries ou de téléphone sont aussi payantes : 1€ ou 2€ selon les refuges à moins de porter avec soi un panneau solaire autonome.</p>
